We are seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst to be based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The Corporate Accounting group at Guardian’s world headquarters is searching for a person who, at their core, wants to build on their exceptional accounting track record and take on whatever accounting challenges are presented by a large, diverse, international, and private company.
The Financial Reporting Analyst must possess the skills and knowledge sought below, but more importantly, he or she will need to be emotionally committed to their work and to Guardian. By this we aim to hire an individual who is highly motivated and energetic, confident yet humble, socially agile, wants to learn how things work, and competitive through teams.
The successful candidate will initially and over time be responsible for:
Administer and maintain consolidation system.
Perform month-end accounting and financial statement consolidation functions.
Maintain and generate key financial statement reports in consolidation system.
Work with accounting organization to understand implications of system modifications on financial reporting.
Support the administration of chart of account and company hierarchy changes within consolidation system to support accounting, tax and legal reporting requirements.
Ensure that intercompany activity and accounts are properly balanced and eliminated in consolidation, including intercompany investments/loans, intercompany interest and other intercompany items.
Support the external reporting process through preparation and review of other various financial schedules and footnote support.
Assist in the training and on-boarding of new users.
Identify and develop innovative ways to better utilize consolidation system to enhance and improve support of the Accounting organization.
Ensure system integrity through validation, identifying anomalies and pursuing them to conclusion.
Special projects as requested by Management.
Serve as liaison for accounting systems and appropriate IT functions to ensure accounting functions are maintained.
Work closely with and lend skills to other corporate functions and business processes.
The qualified candidate will possess the following:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
2+ years of accounting experience
Strong computer skills (both desktop and business systems) along with a desire to learn and master over time a comprehensive accounting and consolidation system environment. At minimum, an intermediate level in Microsoft Excel.
Proven track record of accounting accomplishment involving general ledger and account reconciliation and analysis
A working knowledge of GAAP
Strong written and verbal skills
