Job Summary: The Accountant, New Markets Tax Credits provides back-office management of an impact-focused, real estate finance tool called New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC). The primary duties of this position are compliance and reporting, project closings and wrap-up, and pipeline development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Compliance and Reporting:
Perform program tax-related compliance tests.
Perform program and financial reporting.
Manage collection of project impact information.
Lead the identification and management of a pipeline of real estate financing opportunities with a focus on project viability and generation of community impacts.
Assist the VPBD in the evaluation of pipeline transactions to determine their compliance with NMTC program requirements, Cinnaire community development priorities, and financial viability.
Once projects are selected, manage the origination process, including impact underwriting.
Project Closing and Wrap-Up:
Assist in the coordination of real estate finance closing, to ensure that all information, data, and documentation required by the NMTC program is obtained as part of the closing checklist.
Participate in transaction closing calls as Cinnaire’s representative and work with Cinnaire’s legal counsel to coordinate the resolution of legal documents.
Lead project conclusion on behalf of Cinnaire, including final tax return, entity dissolution and reporting.
Internal Contact for NMTC Program:
Main point of contact for Finance team on monthly accounting, loan servicing, and cash management, as well as annual tax returns and audits.
Main point of contact for Asset Management team.
Main point of contact for Strategic Communications team (Marketing) on project closings, grand openings and impact stories.
Skills & Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in accounting.
Minimum three to five years’ experience in accounting.
Experience with tax credit programs, community facility loans/investments, or small business lending preferred but not required.
Knowledge and/or practical understanding of community development finance.
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work on numerous projects at the same time.
Strong analytical skills and close attention to detail.
Superior proficiency in Excel.
Commitment to working with diverse communities.
