The Michigan Small Business Development Center (MI-SBDC) is hiring a Finance Manger to work at its Lead Center office. The Finance Manager will report to the State Director and is responsible for the financial operations of the MI-SBDC, including the MI-SBDC administrative office, the grants management function, and the financial operations of the eleven MI-SBDC Regional Centers.
Responsibilities – Essential Functions:
Management of the financial operations of the MI-SBDC, including grants management functions and the financial operations of the MI-SBDC network’s eleven regional service centers
Create and manage reporting needs of the Lead Center and eleven regional offices
Responsible for providing financial analysis and highlights to MI-SBDC leadership
Oversee Lead Center and eleven Regional Center budgeting, expense report review and payment processing
Management of the contract administration and compliance activities of the MI-SBDC, including the development and implementation of performance and compliance standards and procedures
Oversee systems/procedures which are mutually acceptable to GVSU and the U.S. Small Business Administration for efficiently processing MI-SBDC transactions through university, economic development and community college offices that host the MI-SBDC service centers
Audit responsibilities, including federal and university audits of the Lead Center and audits of the eleven Regional Centers
Manage the relationships with Office of Small Business Development Centers (OSBDC) in Washington, D.C. related to financial management
Required Qualifications and Education:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a collaborative and energetic Lead Center Team
Minimum of five years of relevant experience in working within the field of business accounting, finance or auditing
Contract management experience
Knowledge and experience in personnel management, supervision of professional-level staff, budgets and finance, and multi-site organizational policies/procedures
Strong experience in financial management in environments using spreadsheets and database tools
Management history showing sound organizational skills, and timely achievement of quality results in a fast-paced work environment
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
Grant Management Certification
Federal grant management experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
Certified Public Accounting credentials
Two to three years of experience in a fund development role
