Position reports to the Finance Director (CFO), who is a licensed CPA.
supervise the accounting department’s daily financial functions including a staff of four to assure high quality professional service;
complete month end close and financial statement preparation;
assist with year-end close and financial statement audit;
perform fiscal assessment desk reviews of sub-recipients;
grant reporting and grant budget tracking;
act as agency liaison with financial institutions;
monitor expenditures for adherence to proper internal controls and ensure compliance with all established policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and generally accepted accounting and business practices.

Full time, salaried position based upon 40 hour work week with minimal to no overtime! Variable hour schedule. Partial remote work option for the correct candidate. Starting salary $70,500-$77,500 of with excellent benefit package that includes family medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as flexible spending accounts, 10% retirement contribution, and employer paid coverage for group term life, accidental death & dismemberment, short term disability, and long term disability.

Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan is a multi-county agency focused on programs for older persons and adults with disabilities, located at 3215 Eaglecrest Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525
Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field;
Three - five years’ progressively responsible professional accounting work experience, preferably in a non-profit or governmental setting;
Previous supervisory experience, preferably in a non-union setting;
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; and
CPA or CPA eligible, CGMA, CIA, or prior audit experience is a plus; preferably significant experience with non-profits, federal and state grant reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Telecommuting is allowed.
