Essential Functions: Serves as a senior accounting professional and applies generally accepted accounting principles and procedures in working with specialized accounting records and reports. Assembles and analyzes data and transactions and prepares statements and reports relating to Grant and Contract Administration. Compiles and analyzes complex financial data in order to maintain accurate financial records for Sponsored Program Administration projects. Reports to Associate Director. Monitors the cash management activity for grants and contracts. Provides daily review of bank wires and checks for proper application. Reconciles the Bank Suspense Fund for identification.Assigns and performs close-out of expired projects, including final fund reconciliation, revenue analysis, indirect cost adjustments and deficit clearance.Compiles complex Federal Awarding Agency Reports and cash requests. Submits reports through various Federal systems.Serves as work leader and provides functional leadership and direction regarding accounting methods and procedures to lower level accounting staff. Provides training, coaching, mentoring and teaching. May also assign, review and check work. Prepares various accounting journal vouchers, including cost transfer and fiscal year end entries.Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's degree Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Requires 4 or more years of accounting experience. Higher education experience with Grant and Contract Accounting is highly preferred.Ability to analyze accounting, financial or other quantitative data, reconcile accounting or financial data, and detect errors and discrepancies.Ability to resolve complex problems by gathering and analyzing information, and identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; adapt to changing conditions; communicate changes; ensure timely completion of projects.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong customer service skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Banner system and Cognos reporting tools.
