Position Title:
Director Tax
Objective: The Director Tax is responsible for the Region Americas tax compliance, tax planning and accounting, as well as Internal Controls. The successful candidate will work with businesses, service providers, and other tax professionals in carrying out their responsibilities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for completion of federal, international and state income tax returns including all related analysis and support: Prepare quarterly and annual tax provision, ETR reconciliations, reserve liability, valuation allowance analysis, deferred tax account roll-forwards and reconciliations, and tax reporting packages.
- Make sure company is in compliance with all tax laws and IFRS.
- Oversight of the tax returns for the Company’s international subsidiaries (NA/SA).
- Responsible for use and property tax functions as well as employment tax.
- Responsible for audits of federal and state income tax and state and local filings.
- Responsible for accounting for income taxes in the US and Americas Region subsidiaries.
- Coordination of accounting for income taxes for Americas Region subsidiaries with third party vendors.
- Responsible for transfer pricing preparation and testing.
- Liaison with operating management on tax issues and accounting staff on tax accounting issues.
- Ensuring that appropriate internal controls are in place.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overall Region tax strategy. Establish and enhance tax policies, objectives, procedures, and processes for control and efficiency.
- Monitors reporting and planning to ensure compliance with applicable tax statutes.
- Ensures tax accuracy and works to minimize the organization’s tax obligations.
- Manage relationships with outside consultants related to tax.
- Works closely with Accounting to provide tax rates for review of business results and forecasts;
- Advises top management of the impact of new tax laws and proposed legislation;
- Pursues refunds, credits and incentives as the company moves into new markets or new locations to maximize tax benefits to the company;
- Recognize complex technical tax issues, perform research and analysis to support management decision-making;
- Develop federal and state tax planning ideas;
- Responsible for employment tax and related questions.
- Record all tax entries on a monthly basis and ensure all general ledger accounts are properly reconciled on a regular basis.
- Prepare and file all indirect taxes such as sales, use, and property tax returns on a timely basis and ensure compliance at all times. Oversee regional jurisdiction filings for VAT and ensure compliance at all times.
- Oversee preparation of transfer pricing documentation, including master file, local files, and country by country reporting; Manage and coordinate requirements for analysis, studies, or documentation required for transfer pricing, Domestic Production Activities Deduction and Nexus.
- Manage and oversee Mexico statutory tax filing requirements including corporate income tax returns, and other local filing requirements.
- Ensure tax processes and transactions are in accordance with IFRS, adherence with internal controls and best practices requirements.
- Prepare technical memorandums to support tax positions.
- Manage all Federal/State audits including income, sales and use, property and employment tax audits.
- Assist Treasury with tax planning issues as required.
- Assist the Treasury in estimating and monitoring annual cash taxes.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field;
- MST/CPA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in Tax and Accounting.
- 3+ years of experience in international tax, Mexican maquiladora mandatory, Brazil preferred
- 3+ years of experience with transfer pricing in an international manufacturing environment
- Experience in fast-paced environment, highly driven with the ability to conduct multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
- Individual contributor but willing to teach/mentor; Experience mentoring and training more junior level team members;
- Outstanding organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills;
- Driven professional to ensures deadlines are met sooner rather than later;
- Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture;
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow and reassign as necessary;
- Able to manage multiple complex projects and deliver in a timely manner.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills and ERP system knowledge are essential.
