Staff Accountant
POSITION DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: Accounting/Financial Department
SUPERVISED BY: Controller
STATUS: Salaried, Exempt (Full Time)

Position Description:
The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Controller in all aspects of the position description. The Staff Accountant provide accounting support to the Controller and Owners. This position has oversight responsibilities for a junior level Accounting/HR position, the day-to-day accounting operations, audit preparations and participation, and financial report creation and explanation.
Essential Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred, equivalent in experience considered.
CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of experience with accounting oversight, analytical functions and financial statements.
Position Requirements (Skills & Abilities):
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects in a timely and accurate manner
- Strong operating knowledge of recognized accounting procedures
- Ability to prepare, analyze and explain financial statements
- Strong communication skills to effectively make recommendations to the Controller, Owners, and Board Members
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
- Some Human Resources knowledge is helpful
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform mid-level general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and report, identify and correct errors.
- Monitor policies and procedures, identify and make recommendations for improvement.
- Support timely monthly, quarterly, half-year and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all accounts.
- Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities and assets.
- Prepare special financial reports as requested and be prepared to fully explain the outcomes.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to other accounting staff to ensure the department is meeting deadlines.
- Prepare the department for audits, participate in the execution of the audit, and report the findings to the Controller, and Owners.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the department ensuring accuracy of all work.
- Other duties as assigned by the Controller or Owners.

Minimum Physical Expectations:
- Physical activity that often requires keyboarding, sitting, phone work and filing.
- Physical activity that often requires extensive time working on a computer.
- Physical activity that often requires lifting under 25 lbs.
- Physical activity that sometimes requires bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling and/or twisting.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face (in English) for long periods of time.
Minimum Environmental Expectations:
This position will require working indoors. Typical workweek is eight (8) hour workdays, five (5) days per week. This position deals with deadlines and multiple projects that could be stressful.
