Directs the administration of all accounting activities including the payroll system, supervise and participate in the maintenance of all City accounting records for final audit. Leads the annual budget preparation process. Reviews departmental reports of receipts and disbursements of City funds making corrections when necessary. In addition, maintains and prepares a variety of financial records and reports.
SPECIAL SKILLS & TRAINING:
Proficient with computers (WORD and EXCEL) preferred and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work with community leaders, public agencies, businesses, clients and the general public. This position requires exceptional presentation skills, including the ability to prepare and present reports, analysis and studies on a variety of technical issues. A valid State of Michigan operator's license is required. Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or a Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) preferred.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Public Administration. Master’s Degree and/or Certified Public Accountant license preferred.
PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE:
Six or more years of progressively more responsible accounting experience including three years of supervisory experience in a municipality or equivalent.

Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
