Our mission is to improve the accountability for public funds and to improve the operations of State government for the benefit of the citizens of the State of Michigan.
We are looking for top-notch Accounting students who possess the ability to work in a team setting, analyzing and synthesizing information to reach logical, sound conclusions. Although we operate similarly to a public accounting firm, candidates should be interested in working in a government environment, performing both financial and performance audits. Our employees often comment on the work/life balance our Office affords them. Candidates must have the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, with agency staff, members of the Legislature, and all levels of OAG management and staff. We are also looking for candidates who have an interest in becoming professionally licensed as Certified Public Accountants (CPA’s).
Audit Internships are 40 hours per week with a pay rate of $23.43 an hour. Many of our interns go on to become permanent Auditor employees. For those considering a position after graduation, we offer an attractive benefits package, financial and other assistance to help you obtain your CPA and other applicable certificates, and a full range of continuing professional education opportunities designed to improve and maintain your knowledge and skills.
