Summary | Human Resources Customer Support performs a wide range of administrative support related tasks that contribute to the overall smooth operations of diverse HR functions while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and professional. This department positively represents the University by providing outstanding customer service when responding to the needs of campus clients and external contacts. |
Responsibilities | 1. Provide administrative support for daily HR functions including answering phones and directing non-routine questions; receive and route mail; manage email accounts and request tracking system; compose routine correspondence; draft replies to non-routine inquiries. 2. Greet and assist customers in a friendly, courteous manner 3. Receive, process and maintain forms related to Human Resources. 4. Independently research and resolve problems associated with Human Resources 5. Build and maintain packets for New Husky Orientation including but not limited to benefits, payroll and/or employment eligibility verification 6. Calculate and track RSVP points and eligibility, leave balances and process any necessary adjustments or payouts 7. Complete Benefits and/or Payroll deduction adjustments 8. Maintain and update permanent, confidential Employee files 9. Data enter and maintain employee records in Banner 10. Receive Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAF) using the Banweb system 11. Complete internal and/or vendor audits 12. Track and send Affordable Cares Act offer letters 13. Prepare check request, enter invoices for garnishment and Reallocation of Expenditures 14. Run Banner reports related to employee benefits, employment and/or payroll 15. Assist in the biweekly data entry for multiple processes 16. Be knowledgeable about the organization and business of MTU Human Resources and act as a backup to support all areas 17. Be knowledgeable of regulations including but not limited to Federal, State and local taxes 18. Process Visitor Access forms and Create M-numbers and User ID’s in Banner 19. Review and track all Casual Seasonal Short-Term employment Paperwork 20. Receive and route all Bullard-Plawecki requests, assist in the collection of Cost of Living Index (COLI) survey data, and assist with special projects, functions and events 21. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives. 22. Integrate safety practices into daily activities 23. Other duties as assigned |
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures | • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired |
Required Experience | • Three years office/clerical experience • Three years of proven high-quality customer service experience • Three years’ experience using personal computers including Microsoft Word and Excel

Desirable Education and/or Experience | • Familiarity and experience with Banner • Experience creating forms • Experience working with people from multiple countries and cultures
