Monitors, reports, and provides subject matter support for investment operations functions of the MSU Common Investment Fund (CIF) to ensure compliance with government regulations and University policies and procedures and to ensure effective internal controls.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs and/or reviews the reporting and monitoring of existing investments’ performance (i.e., executive dashboards, performance reporting, cash management, and investment monitoring) against investment policy asset allocation targets, reports on variances and coordinates all rebalancing transactions.
Oversees maintenance of investment software including setting up new funds, companies, share classes and month end review processes.
Prepares CIF data submissions provided to external consultants for performance reporting, benchmarking and cash flow projections.
Prepares CIF survey responses to third parties to support Peer Investment Office performance reporting and ranking.
Drafts materials for quarterly Board of Trustees Investment Advisory Subcommittee meetings.
Monitors CIF liquidity, including preparation of internal cash projections.
Serves as alternate / delegate for manager level approvals for money movement.
Assists Investment Operations Manager in the partnering with the Investment Management Team with onboarding of new fund managers or funds and changes to existing funds including preparation of legal documents, coordination of legal review, and monitoring/reporting of changes to legal documents and investment terms.
Supports/serves as investment database knowledge expert including appropriate backup and adherence to data retention requirements.
Serves as knowledge expert related to Audited Financial Statements review by Analysts.
Reviews and oversees work performed by others on the collection and validation of Schedule K-1 tax forms and foreign entity tax reporting. Serves as a knowledge expert to other investment operations staff.
Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of operating policies, processes, procedures and internal controls for Investment Operations processes to ensure compliant and efficient operations.
Contributes to the research, design and implementation of systems and processes in order to facilitate and continuously improve the functions of the Investment Operations.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business, Accounting or a related field; three to five years of progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in accounting, financial analysis, management and/or supervision and in the area of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
CPA designation preferred.
